You know I love to quilt, right? Well, my friends at one of my favorite shops that's online, The Fat Quarter Shop, is having a giveaway right now! In case you don't know, fat quarters are a quilting-specific cut of fabric. When a quarter yard is cut, instead of it being 9 inches long by however wide the fabric is, say 44-45 inches, a half yard is cut which is 18 inches long by the width of the fabric, then it's cut in half. You're left with a piece of fabric that's 18 by 22 or so, which is infinitely more usable than a piece that's 9 inches by 44 or 45 inches. So that's what a fat quarter is!
